Tibetan Prayer Box / Prayer Wheel Necklace, Sterling SIlver with Copper and Brass Writing

This pendant is a prayer box called a Gau crafted in Nepal by Tibetan refugees. The purpose of a Gau is to contain mantras, prayers or other scrolls, and the pieces are considered to be strong spiritual protectors and amulets. On the top of the box is the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum, decorated in copper and brass.
The sides of the box are decorated with Dorje, which represent the thunderbolt of enlightenment and success in the battle against darkness and ego. The Dorje are centered by a long tailed Spiral, often found in images of The Buddha’s third eye, or eye of enlightenment.
