The Oilliphéist is a symbol of the chaotic, powerful forces of the natural world. Sometimes a monster wreaking destruction, and sometimes a force of benvelolence the Oilipheist (literally The Great Worm or Great Dragon) lives in the deepest lakes and most raging rivers of the ancient, celtic pagan world. It is said that the River Shannon herself was carved by The Oilliphéist as it battled with Saint Patrick.
