Bloodstone, also called heliotrope, was a favorite gem of the Victorian period andwas considered the alternative, or mens, birthstone for the month of March. In the case of this fob pendant, the bloodstone is actually glass! This is a beautiful reproduction gem that was made in Germany in the 1930s - Germany being the well known center for all fine synthetic gems!
The Lion Rampant is the symbol of Scotland, and of course is associated with the Zodiac sign Leo.
